I’ve seen Kerry Whitfield at Boulder Shelter for the Homeless at 6AM the past two mornings, waiting to get in with the rest of us, so he’s out of jail and running the streets again.
This morning, he was in the company of a young lady who appeared to me to be about 12-14 years of age. He had his arms wrapped around her as she was facing away from him, and she didn’t look too happy. This man is a 47-year-old convicted sex offender, who attempted to assault a 12-year-old girl who is a close female relative, and who has been evaluated in the DOC and found by the Colorado Parole Board to be at high risk for re-offending. That’s what the Sexually Violent Predator designation means.
I saw this disgusting scene outside BSH just before it opened, and I would have puked if I’d eaten anything before leaving my campsite. The girl looked so very young, I’m sure that the staff person at the front desk asked her for ID (only required if someone appears to be under 18, as juveniles aren’t permitted on the premises except as volunteers accompanied by adults). I mentioned my concern about Mr. Whitfield and his “girlfriend” a short while later to another staff person, who reassured me that she had been checked for ID showing her to be an adult. I remarked that she still looked about 12-years-old.
No surprise that this predator will attach himself to a young girl who looks like a child, even if she’s not . . . Certainly, she must have some serious issues in her own life to get involved with the likes of Kerry Whitfield.
BTW, I overheard Mr. Whitfield telling another man in the shelter that his name was — get this now — Special K.
What a pathetic excuse for a man! He, and others of his ilk, have unfortunately started using BSH as their de facto residence; it’s time for a new policy to prohibit convicted sex offenders there, which many other homeless shelters around America already do.

Oh, no. Why is the Boulder Shelter so accommodating to criminals? If other shelters can prohibit sex offenders, so can this one. I am very glad you are here to tell us about this.
Special k is a horse tranquilizer people take to get high as well as the cereal.I wonder which one he named himself after?
Gee whiz, I worked with horses for 15 years. I knew about folks using phenylbutazone (NSAID) for their arthritis, but not about tranquilizers from the friendly vet . . . That's just crazy!
