Smoking at the Main Library

I’m outside the Main Library before it opens almost every weekday morning. The 15 foot rule is inadequate to keep tobacco smoke from irritating the lungs of anyone standing by the doorway. Homeless Hall of Shame #2

As a group, I’m inducting all of the homeless men who abuse their homeless wives/girlfriends and cause much suffering on a daily basis. Not all of this abuse is physical; a great deal of it comes from treating their women as subservient creatures to be degraded verbally, and otherwise shown their inferiority.

Advice for homeless campers

146 days, 146 calls for the police

Boulder Shelter for the Homeless has been open for their winter season of emergency sheltering since October 15, 2009 — 146 days through yesterday. Strangely enough, there have been 146 calls for Boulder PD from 4869 N. Broadway (street address of BSH) during that time. Caveat: Some of those calls, I’m advised, involve traffic stops [...]
